Ben Zank is a photographer who creates odd, surreal images that convey a sense of loneliness, wonder, and a bit of shock. His subjects usually don’t have their faces shown which adds to the mystery and he has a lot of photos that have linear patterns, like the horizon or the road markings. When asked in an interview in 2014 for Emmazed on why he tends to create his photos minimally:
That’s a good question – I have ADHD so I get very distracted by crazy environments. I just like the idea of being able to look at an image and instantly be affected by it. Instead of being bombarded by distractions, you’re just focusing on one thing and taking it all in.
